The Everywhere Frontline: Photojournalism and Safety

Photojournalists are under a greater threat of violence now more than ever before. The frontline is not only in war zones and repressive countries, but also in established democracies like the U.S.

Physical assault, violent rhetoric and online attacks are becoming alarmingly common. This lecture will draw on the panelists’ extensive experience and knowledge and detail the contemporary landscape of our collective working environment – from the frontlines of Iraq, Afghanistan, Mexico and Ukraine – to the streets of America, where armed attacks against journalists have risen sharply.

This lecture by Holly Pickett and Louie Palu will detail safety strategies, awareness and planning for all your assignments, from domestic protests and covering crime to conflict zones on foreign assignments.
