Kevin Coughlin

Kevin Coughlin is a New York-based aerial cinematographer, director of photography, private pilot, and the current executive photographer for New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. Kevin has been a photojournalist for more than 30 years working for numerous newspapers in the New York and New Jersey area including: The New York Times, New York Post, New York Daily News, Newsday, Asbury Park Press, and The Star-Ledger of Newark, NJ.

In 2002, Kevin was honored for his visual contributions to The New York Times’ Pulitzer Prize winning series: “A Nation Challenged”, for his coverage on the 9/11/01 attacks on the World Trade Center and its aftermath. His photographs appear in two Times-published books: “PORTRAITS 9/11/01” and “A Nation Challenged: A Visual History of 9/11 and it’s Aftermath.”

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science from St. John’s University in Photography and is a 2004 graduate of the prestigious NPPA/Stan Kalish Picture Editing Workshop.

Kevin runs an Unmanned Aircraft System aerial photography business All Island Aerial.com. He is a card-carrying director of photography (DP) member of the International Cinematography Guild, Local 600, I.A.T.S.E. His drone work is featured in many tourism commercials and PSA’s for the State of New York.

Kevin is also a private pilot and an active airman in the United States Air Force Auxiliary, holding the grade of Captain and is mission rated in aerial photography. He is an accomplished Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), FAA Part 107 remote pilot and flight instructor for DART Drones, the largest national flight school for drone pilots. Kevin has trained more than 400 drone pilots, many of them from large media companies such as: CNN, CBS News, Inside Edition, NBC National News, NBC Dateline, Vice News and The New York Times.
