Jessica Koscielniak

Jessica Koscielniak is an award-winning visual journalist and accomplished visual leader based in Washington, DC. With nearly two decades of experience in the industry, Jessica is known for her powerful approach to storytelling through photography and video. She currently serves as the President of the White House News Photographers Association
Jessica will join Reuters in May to lead their Washington-based photography staff.
Most recently, Jessica was the Executive Producer for Core Video at The Washington Post. Prior to her work at The Washington Post, Jessica was a Senior Producer and Staff Photographer at USA Today, where she covered high-profile stories such as the War in Ukraine, military suicide, and the COVID-19 pandemic. She also contributed to the National High-Impact Video Team at McClatchy, where she developed, produced, and edited in-depth documentary-style video packages.
In 2012, Jessica started her career as a multimedia journalist at the Chicago Sun-Times, focusing on the gun violence epidemic in Chicago’s most affected neighborhoods. Hailing from Northwest Indiana, she has always had a deep passion for covering impactful stories in her own backyard.
Jessica’s work has garnered numerous prestigious awards, including recognition from Photography of the Year International, Best of Photojournalism, the Lone Star Regional EMMYs, RTDNA’s Edward R. Murrow Awards, Online Journalism, Society of Professional Journalists Sigma Delta Chi, The Webbys and the White House News Photographer’s Association,
She lives in Washington, DC with her photographer husband, Tasos Katopodis and their beloved bulldog, Nelly.
